A design by Perkins+Will for Northeastern University in Seattle won a 2014 INaward from International Interior Design Association.
All the IIDA winners are listed here.
Northeastern's 5,700-square-foot space was completed in December 2012. Perkins+Will was the architect, and also designed the interior and branding.
Here is the rest of the team: BNBuilders, contractor; Seneca Group, owner's representative; Coughlin Porter Lundeen, structural engineer; Candela, lighting; McKinstry, mechanical engineer; and VECA, electrical engineer.
The space is at 401 Terry Ave N., and is subleased from The Institute for Systems Biology.
It contains a reception area, student lounge, administrative offices and a conference room. A mezzanine was added to give the university more space and take advantage of tall ceilings. A storefront was replaced with clear glass at the entrance.
The team is targeting LEED platinum. It has natural lighting, FSC-certified wood, and materials with low VOC and recycled content.
Northeastern's main campus is in Boston. It offers online and graduate courses in Seattle, with degree programs that include computer science and engineering.
