2nd ARE Prep 2001/Session A. Architect Registration Examination Preparation & Review Seminars. Nine sessions Tuesdays and Thursdays at UW Gould Hall 240. 6-9 p.m.

Small Firm Management Series/Session A. Participants will be introduced to the discipline of organizational design, enabling them to design their firms as they would design their buildings. Facilitator: Rena Klein AIA.4-6:30 p.m. Oct-March ’02. 15LUs

" An Architecture of Community," by Carolyn Geise FAIA. Lecture by the 2001 AIA Seattle Medallist, 6:30 p.m. at UW Architecture Hall, presented in cooperation with AWA.

Young Architects Forum to chat with Heather Johnston AIA, Principal PLACE Architects. Heather will share her experiences with opening her own firm just 2 years ago. Noon-1:30 p.m. at PLACE Architects.

Green Water: “What Makes it GREEN?” Incorporating Environmental Aspects in Storm Water Management. Case Studies include: Environmental Services office building, Evergreen State College (various buildings) and Tracon-FAA building. 4-6 p.m. 2LUs

“Meet the Press” The always-popular panel of journalists influential in the portrayal of Northwest design, in the popular and professional media; this year in partnership with SMPS Seattle. 4-6 p.m. Location: NBBJ 2LUs / 2HSW

The New Energy Codes. Strategies for controlling cost impacts by incorporating energy conservation in early design stages. 8:30-noon. 3.5 LUs.

ABC Town Centers Project at Fellows/Honors Council A grant from the AIA College of Fellows helped to fund Action: Better City's traveling research project to document the status of town centers in small towns in Western Washington. Noon-2pm luncheon at the Four Seasons Olympic @ $30 by advance registration via AIA Seattle.

Design Ethics Forum This interactive forum utilizes the expertise of the AIA National Ethics Council to engage participants from practice communities in a discussion of ethical dilemmas design practitioners face in their work. Location: University of Washington Gould Hall Court 2.5LU's / 2.5HSW 6:15-9:15 p.m. Registration: AIA Seattle
