On April 20, Seattle's Landmarks Preservation Board will consider nomination of the Firestone Auto Supply & Service Store at 400 Westlake Ave. N. as a city landmark.

The meeting is at 3:30 p.m. in Room L280 of Seattle City Hall at 600 Fourth Ave.

The two-story terra cotta-clad building was constructed in 1929 for Firestone Service, an automobile and truck tire company, according to the landmark nomination application prepared by The Johnson Partnership. It was designed and built by the California branch office of The Austin Co.

In late 2015, an entity related to Martin Selig Real Estate of Seattle bought the South Lake Union property for $17.5 million. At that time, Martin Selig said preliminary plans were for about 190,000 square feet of office space and 30,000 square feet of retail. Selig said he planned to maintain as much of the facade as possible.

Perkins + Will is the architect, Lease Crutcher Lewis is the general contractor and KPFF Consulting Engineers is the structural engineer for the Selig project.

The nomination application is at http://tiny.cc/5dxkay under “Current Nominations.”
