Two lectures here by Sharon Sutton

Sutton

Dr. Sharon E. Sutton will discuss her book, “When Ivory Towers Were Black: A Story about Race in America's Cities and Universities” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 6 at a social hour at 1010 Western Ave.

Sutton is a professor emeritus at the UW who advocates for participatory planning and design processes in disenfranchised communities.

Sutton will also lecture on “Lessons in Re-Imagining Universities and Communities” at 6 p.m. March 7 in Architecture Hall 147 at the University of Washington. The free talk is part of the Winter 2018 UW Department of Architecture Lecture Series.

Sutton has been on the faculties of Parsons School of Design, Pratt Institute, Columbia University, University of Cincinnati and the University of Michigan, and has practiced architecture in New York City. She received the Medal of Honor from AIA New York and AIA Seattle.
