The city of Bellevue is accepting applications until Nov. 30 for free training in 2019 to become a volunteer master naturalist.
The program is Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Jan. 24 through April 11 at Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center, 1625 118th Ave. S.E.
Participants will learn about the area's wildlife, ecology, hydrology, geology, natural resource management and cultural history.
Those who complete the program will assist park rangers with environmental education and interpretation, habitat restoration and monitoring, nature hikes, wetland monitoring, community volunteer projects and canoe tours.
