Horizon Partners Northwest has unveiled new designs for its $200 million Brewery Blocks in Tacoma.
The Tacoma-based firm is developing the six-building project on two blocks south of the University of Washington Tacoma campus.
The site is bounded by South C and Commerce streets, and South 21st and 23rd streets.
Construction started a year ago.
Brewery Blocks will have a mix of new structures and restored warehouse buildings. The centerpiece will be a 14-story high-rise that will be the state's tallest structure to be built with cross-laminated timber. It will house approximately 143 apartments.
When completed, Brewery Blocks will have more than 200 units of market-rate housing, 75,000 square feet of offices and 42,000 square feet of retail and restaurants. Parking for 450 vehicles is also planned.
Horizon has been working with Flynn Architecture, a firm based in Oakland, California. AHBL is the civil engineer and landscape architect.
The first tenant, the office of Chapter 13 trustee Michael Malaier, has already moved into a building at 2122 Commerce St.
Bitterroot, a barbecue restaurant with a location in Ballard, is slated to open at 2101 S. C St. in September.
The Brewery Lofts is a four-story, 49-unit apartment building at 2120 Commerce St. that should be ready for tenants in June. The luxury units will have one- and two-bedroom floorplans, ranging from 500 to 1,000 square feet.
Horizon managed construction of the lofts in-house, but it's looking for a general contractor to oversee future phases, according to a spokeswoman.
A parking structure will be completed by the end of 2019.
The full development is slated to finish by the end of 2022.
