AIA Seattle will hold an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. March 7 for “Because it Rains,” an exhibit at the Center for Architecture & Design at 1010 Western Ave.
The exhibit runs through May 25. It was created by Laura Bartunek, who used AIA Seattle's 2018 Emerging Professionals Travel scholarship to explore rain as a catalyst in design. She examines rain as an ecological and cultural phenomenon that can challenge how people engage with their environment.
Bartunek looked at rain in Florida, New Mexico, Kauai, London and Norway through the lens of architecture. The exhibit catalogs tales of rain through climate illustrations and architectural research models.
