Design Perspectives: Will the 3rd & Cherry tower plaza be public enough?

    It's gone by several names, but since 2005 the block just west of Seattle City Hall has been a hole in the ground.

    Early this month it looked like the future of 3rd & Cherry — as a 58-story condominium tower on a base of retail, plus luxe landscaping, all built by Bosa Development of Vancouver, B.C. — might be arriving. In its third appearance before Seattle's Downtown Design Review Board, Bosa's design team — headed by James K.M. Cheng Architects with landscape architect PFS Studio — clearly hoped to advance to go and finish their job.
