Seattle-based SMR Architects promoted Andrew Phillips, Kate Smith and Rumi Takahashi to associate principal. Phillips was hired in 1996 and specializes in renovation, historic preservation and adaptive reuse projects. Smith was hired in 2006 and has designed permanent supportive and affordable housing projects. Takahashi joined SMR in 2014, designing housing and community-based buildings for the community's most vulnerable members. SMR said the three have contributed to its growth while displaying exemplary leadership and professional skills.
