Seattle-based Johnston Architects promoted David Fuchs and Leah Wiiest to principal and Lu Zhang to associate. Fuchs, an architect, joined JA in 2015. He has worked in Boston, New York and Dublin, and also in Seattle on multifamily and mixed-use housing projects. He is managing the 35-unit mixed-use Shared Roof project in Phinney Ridge, and Alta Gateway, a 240-unit mixed-use development in Columbia City, both under construction.

Wiiest was hired in 2016 and established JA's interiors studio. She has designed hospitality, retail, restaurant and residential projects in Seattle, New York and Los Angeles. She is leading the interior design on several condos, multifamily projects and renovation of the historic Auburn post office into the new Auburn Arts & Cultural Center. Zhang was hired in 2015 and has used her urban design and planning experience on feasibility studies for sites for multifamily projects in Seattle. She is lead designer on a 95-unit mixed-use project under construction at 417 Second Ave. W. in Lower Queen Anne and a 165-unit mixed-use project on Mercer Island that is in design. JA offers architecture, interior design and planning.
