In Seattle, KMD Architects hired Tony Paul and Wen Wu as project architects, Chris Buchanan as a production manager, Hannah Morrow as an interior designer and Laura Salmela as a job captain. Paul has a background in health care and residential design. Wu was formerly with Neiman Taber Architects and BAM in New York. Buchanan was previously with SABArchitects and has 11 years of experience. Morrow was with B+H Architects. Salmela has a master's in architecture from North Dakota University. Her thesis project focused on social impact design while implementing vernacular and environmentally friendly building technologies.
KMD is primarily a health care design firm, with current projects including the Lummi Nation Health and Wellness Center in Bellingham and MultiCare Allenmore Hospital's emergency department expansion and remodel. The firm also designed the 17-story Koda Condominium Flats Tower now underway in Seattle's Chinatown-International District.
