In Seattle, Mahlum promoted PJ Bauser to principal, Jay Hindmarsh to associate principal and Emily Everett and Brian Gerich to associate. Bauser has been an integral part of the architecture firm for over 12 years, and is one of its health care practice leaders. He uses lean principles to guide teams on projects, and as a designer explores the possibilities presented by the expansion of digital tools. Hindmarsh has over 20 years of experience. He specializes in the delivery of building designs in the Pacific Northwest. He has experience in specification writing, materials research, design execution and sustainability, and recently spearheaded Mahlum's first project to receive Living Building Challenge certification. Everett works with students, teachers, administration and other staff from the start of design through construction to create teaching and learning spaces. In over 15 years of professional experience, Gerich has developed a holistic and integrated approach to design influenced by sustainable systems, user experience and the nuances of technical design. He has training in architecture and landscape architecture, and has led design activism studios at the University of Washington. Mahlum specializes in health care, student housing and education.
