DCI Engineers, a civil and structural engineering firm, hired Ethan Martin as an associate in Portland. Martin is on the structural team and will focus on mass timber design for West Coast projects. Previously, he was Northwest regional director at WoodWorks, the wood industry’s nonprofit for advancing knowledge and technical support in commercial wood building projects in the U.S. While there, he assisted DCI on the Flatiron PDX, 120 Clay and Fair Haired Dumbbell projects. Martin has a background in mass timber code, permitting and design. He collaborated with Oregon and Washington officials to set new precedents in prescriptive building codes and contributed to the performance-based design of tall wood buildings. He also co-founded the International Mass Timber Conference with Forest Business Network in Portland.
