Big plans for an intimate community space at the recently sold Columbia City Theater

Early renderings show a renewed stage and viewing area at a venue that can claim the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Quincy Jones, and Ray Charles as past performers.

As reported in the DJC last week, the Columbia City Theater, at 4916 Rainier Ave. S., has sold for $3.2 million. The buyers were Rainer Avenue Radio and the Cultural Space Agency (a public development authority established by a City of Seattle Charter in 2021). The two organizations will co-own and co-manage the property, which Rainier Avenue Radio will occupy and program.
