Public47 Architects has announced a new associate group which will include Hayley Buckbee, Martha Cox, Steven Jackson, Jon Kwon, and Mike Laurencelle. This associate group will provide additional leadership as the firm moves forward into its second decade.

Raised and educated in the Pacific Northwest, Buckbee is a graduate of Portland State University and received her Master of Architecture degree from University of Washington. She has worked on various project sizes and types ranging from residential remodels to urban mixed-use. In addition to her work with Public, she co-runs a site-specific art installation collaborative and has taught architectural studio at UW.

Cox is a licensed architect with ten years of experience on a wide range of projects with a growing expertise in mass timber. She is deeply involved in ULI Northwest, serving on the local multi-family product council as well as co-chairing the ULI Northwest Young Leaders Group Board. She was recently awarded the ULI Prologis Achievement Award. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Rice University.

Jackson, a graduate of the University of Colorado and University of Washington's Master of Architecture program, is a licensed architect with a background in furniture design and fabrication. Many of his projects have dealt with challenging sites and complex zoning issues.

Kwon is a licensed architect with over 30 years of experience on a wide range of projects from police precincts to downtown towers to single-family homes. He is detail-oriented and brings technical expertise to the team while serving as a mentor to the younger staff.

An east-coast transplant and University of Washington graduate, Laurencelle has worked on a variety of project types including urban mixed-use, adaptive reuse, and multifamily housing exploring high-performance building technologies and mass timber construction. He is also a certified Construction Document Technologist.
