Another award for Ocean Pavilion

Ocean Pavilion topped out in March and is set to open next year.

Even though it won't be completed until next year, architect LMN is already winning awards for its design of Ocean Pavilion at the Seattle Aquarium.

The project was one of 10 recently honored with a 70th Annual Progressive Architecture Award by Architecture Magazine. These awards honor unbuilt projects across the globe.

When finished next year, the 50,000 square foot Ocean Pavilion will have a 360,000-gallon coral reef ecosystem that will be home to more than 120 species. The awards jury commended how the project has been designed to gracefully interconnect with the city's waterfront.

“It's quite beautiful. It's hard to imagine [the project] not being there on that site. It feels like it belongs,” Juror Lawrence Scarpa, said.
