Seattle architecture firm Schemata Workshop has announced the promotion of four employees to the position of associate: Miles Cook, AIA; Shweta Sinha, AIA; Margaret Tyson; and Joann Ware, AIA.
Cook brings his 17+ years of experience to focus on BIM standards and workflow optimization. A native of New Mexico, he is a certified Passive House consultant with experience in a variety of public sector and institutional project types. Inspired by a strong interest in bridging the gap between high-performance sustainable design and housing affordability, his work includes research and development of streamlined prefabricated building systems aimed at optimizing the balance of cost, energy efficiency, and constructability.
With more than 18 years' experience, Sinha will focus on design innovation in the firm, and is currently leading Schemata Workshop's summer design housing studio for WSU graduate level students. Sinha earned her Master of Architecture degree at the University of Southern California and has worked in Los Angeles, Princeton, and Bangalore on a wide range of projects ranging from expansive museums to community schools. Her most recent experience in the Pacific Northwest is in multifamily housing projects that provide affordable and innovative living in urban neighborhoods.
Tyson, the firm's business manager, has been with the studio for seven years, and will continue to focus on profitability and efficient business processes, as well as strategic planning for the firm. As an enthusiastic and advanced Ajera user, she uses her expertise to further an integrated approach to projects. Tyson has more than 20 years of experience in business management for progressive and nonprofit organizations and holds an Executive MBA from TCU in Fort Worth, Texas.
Ware has 13 years of experience in architectural practice and real estate development. Her focus is on the technical aspects of project delivery. Ware has a diverse background in architecture - rooted in traditional practice but informed by five years as an Enterprise Rose Architectural Fellow and affordable housing developer at InterIm CDA. She has been with Schemata Workshop since 2016 and is well-versed in publicly funded projects and integrated design processes, has a deep passion for place-based participatory design processes, and meaningful client engagement. Ware received her Master of Architecture degree from the Rhode Island School of Design.
