Space Needle starts 4-year elevator renovation project

The elevators were last replaced in 1993.

Space Needle LLC and its contractor Turner Construction this week are starting a four-year elevator modernization project at the iconic Seattle landmark that will cost $18 million to build. Initial work is taking place at night on the tower's hoistway and flat roof.
