Chin named GeoEngineers CEO

Chin

Principal geotechnical engineer King Chin took the lead April 12 as the new chief executive officer at Redmond-based engineering and earth science consulting firm GeoEngineers, replacing Mike Hutchinson, who led the firm for the last eight years.

Chin joined the national employee-owned firm in 1998 as a temporary employee. His early work focused on geotechnical engineering for industrial, marine and complex urban development projects.

Chin was promoted to principal in 2014, and his award-winning numerical modeling and performance-based design work helped establish these services at the firm. He was elected to the firm's board of directors in 2016.

“GeoEngineers has provided me with the opportunity to grow, personally and professionally, and I want to make sure that future employees will have the same opportunities,” Chin said in a press release. “I am committed to working with our board and executive leadership team to stay true to the unique values that have made GeoEngineers special.”

GeoEngineers was founded in 1980 and has a team of more than 400 technical experts working in 17 offices coast-to-coast.
