Barghausen Consulting Engineers recently hired 11 new employees, promoted three, and had one employee pass the P.E. exam.
The new hires in the firm's Kent office are Alicia Abdon, Anya Heitman, Camden Heilborn, Gregory Robinson, Julia Francesca Bornilla, Justin Thornton, Marco Scarsella, Nolan Hubbell and Thomas Pentimonti.
Abdon started as an administrative assistant on Aug. 12. She previously worked as an administrative assistant, operations specialist, and accounting specialist for Leroy Surveyors & Engineers in Puyallup. Abdon has a strong background in accounting, records management, and permitting land development projects.
Heitman started as a senior job captain on Aug. 27. She attended Cornish College of the Arts and obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Architecture. Heitman previously worked as a project architect for Koz Development. She has over 10 years of commitment to sustainable design solutions and practices.
Heilborn started as Barghausen's people and culture assistant on Sept. 3. She attended Arizona State University where she graduated with a B.S. in Communication. Heilborn previously worked in customer service positions where she executed collaboration, teamwork, and continuous positive service flow.
Robinson started as a design engineer on Sept. 30. He graduated from the University of Washington in June of 2024 with a BE in Civil Engineering. Robinson previously interned for Barghausen during the summer 2023 engineering internship program.
Francesca Bornilla started on Aug. 19 as a design engineer. She graduated from Seattle University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering with a minor in Mathematics in June of 2024. She previously worked as a Civil Engineering Intern for Momentum Civil in Tacoma.
Thornton started as a project architect on Aug. 27. He relocated from Georgia to join the Barghausen team. Justin graduated with a B.A. degree in Architecture from Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, Georgia. He previously worked as a project leader for LDDBlueline, and has 10-pluse years of experience in the industry.
Scarsella started as a design engineer on Sept. 23. He attended Gonzaga University where he graduated with a Civil Engineering degree in May of 2024.
Hubbell started as a design engineer on Sept. 3. He graduated from Washington State University in May of 2024 with a BE in Civil Engineering. Hubbell previously interned for Barghausen the past four summers of the engineering internship program.
Pentimonti started as a design engineer on Aug.12. He graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington. Pentimonti was an Engineering Intern at Barghausen for the summer of 2023 and is now returning full time.
In the firm's Spokane office, Jamey Montoya started as a professional land surveyor on Aug. 5. He is Barghausen's first professional land surveyor in Spokane. Jamey graduated from Blue Mountain Community College with an A.A.S. - Drafting Technology. He has 26 years of surveying experience working for several engineering firms and most recently Montoya Land Surveying, LLC. He has licenses in both Oregon and Washington.
Caleb Lind started as a survey chainperson on Sept. 23, working remotely.
Promotions in the Kent office are Erin Raya, Iona Waight and Kerah Iyall.
Raya joined Barghausen as an assistant planner in 2021 and was promoted to project planner in 2022. She was recently promoted to senior planner. In her role, Raya manages projects from due diligence through land use entitlements, serves as the main contact for real estate directors and consultant teams, attends global meetings, tracks project schedules, and supervises feasibility studies.
Waight has been promoted to talent acquisition coordinator. Waight joined Barghausen in May of 2023 and quickly excelled in her role, going above and beyond by enhancing job duties and taking on additional responsibilities. She excels in client interactions, event planning, office projects, and employee connections, elevating the overall employee experience.
Iyall has been promoted to permitting and compliance specialist I. Iyall Kerah began in an administrative role on the permitting and compliance team while pursuing her master's degree. She managed fuel facility compliance, became a class A/B operator, handled expenditures, and assisted in multiple programs. In her new role, she will focus on feasibility research, fuel facility compliance, peripheral permitting, and monitoring an administrative workload.
Kaleb Mapstead recently passed the Principles and Practices of Engineering (PE) exam.
