4EA Building Science announces role changes for Jeff Speert and Clarissa Binkley.
Speert now serves as the managing principal of 4EA Building Science, overseeing the operations of 4EA's three offices in Seattle, Oakland and Vancouver, BC. His journey with the company began in 2008 when it operated as JRS Engineering, prior to its rebranding to 4EA.
Over the years, Speert's role has evolved from project support to project management, and then director of 4EA's Seattle office. He pushed the firm's services towards applications for innovative technologies and expansion of services, such as whole building air barrier testing.
As an architect, his expertise spans a diverse range of project types.
Binkley, office director for 4EA's Oakland office, has been promoted to principal. Her building science expertise originated with a focus on energy, studying trends in building energy use and identifying correlations between factors such as enclosure design, retrofit effectiveness, and occupant comfort. This comprehensive understanding of how design decisions influence building performance has been the foundation of her 15-year -long career in the field.
Over Binkley's four years as office director, she has grown 4EA's California presence with a variety of enclosure and energy compliance consulting projects. Her ascension to principal is tied to her increasing ownership in the business and companywide leadership role.
