TikTok has opened a new 40,000-square-foot office in the Key Center building at 601 108th Ave. N. in Bellevue.

The social-media giant moved-in to the new space in February.

Designed by Gensler, the new office is described as “an immersive, nature-inspired space that redefines the modern workplace.” It includes a diversity of workspaces, meeting rooms, and amenities including a wellness room and a library-inspired coffee lounge, all elevated with unique design elements.

Tailored to meet the needs of a diverse, mostly Gen Z and Millennial workforce, Gensler's design blends tech culture with the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. This is expressed in natural wood tones, abundant greenery, and tech-inspired custom design elements including a pink glass staircase and an eye-catching back-lit reception.

The reception area features tech-inspired and biophilic design elements.

Local artist collaborations and regionally inspired graphics can be seen throughout, and ambient lighting, soft textures, and biophilic details create a peaceful yet vibrant atmosphere.

A key goal of the tenant improvement project was to provide employees with ample options of where and how they can work. This meant adding a diversity of workspaces geared toward both individual and team productivity and ranging from private phone booths to open lounge-style seating areas.

“Gensler's recent Global Workplace Survey found that today's workforce is demanding more autonomy over how they work,” Bahar Afshar, studio director with Gensler, shared. “Employees with a choice in where and how they work are 2.5x more likely to say their workplace supports both individual and team productivity,” she continued.

The office has a mix of workspaces, including lots of casual seating.

“Collaborating with the Gensler team on this project was a powerful exercise in storytelling through design,” Melbie Balam, head of enterprise services with TikTok USDS, added. “Our goal was to create a workspace that authentically reflects the spirit of the Pacific Northwest — where natural greenery, local culture, and a strong sense of place shape the daily employee experience. From the lush foliage woven throughout the space to the warm, library-inspired coffee lounge, every detail was curated to foster connection and well-being. With sweeping 360-degree views of Mt. Rainier and the Seattle skyline, the space not only inspires — it has contributed to measurable improvements in employee satisfaction and productivity.”

The project team also includes general contractor JT Magen & Co. of New York and Seattle structural engineering firm DCI Engineers.

TikTok's parent company ByteDance leases a total of 155,000 square feet at Key Center (of which Tik Tok occupies around 65,000 feet across three floors). Last January, the company also announced a lease for 154,939 square feet at Bellevue's Lincoln Square North, in space relinquished by Microsoft in December 2023. ByteDance leases around 287,000 in Lincoln Square.
