‘Civic centerpiece' of Seattle's new waterfront opens today

  • With Pier 58 complete, all of the pieces of Seattle's $806 million waterfront remaking have finally slotted into place.

    The new Pier 58 photographed last week between the Great Wheel and the Seattle Aquarium.

    People have been stopping along the promenade to peer through the fence at the 25-foot-tall jellyfish climbing structure with rolling tentacles rising above Elliott Bay since late last summer.
