Olson Kundig is a distinguished local architecture shop with an increasingly national client base.
One example, as The New York Times and others have reported, is a 50,000-square-foot mansion now under construction in Palm Beach, Florida. The client? Billionaire Ken Griffin, whose Citadel hedge-fund business is based in Miami.
On nearly 8 acres of oceanfront property, the initial OK-designed house at 60 Blossom Way is for Griffin's mother, a spokesman told the Times. It's the first of several structures planned for the 27 acres of beachfront property Griffin has amassed over a decade for about $500 million, per The Palm Beach Daily News. One of the purchases, for nearly $100 million, was for a mansion Griffin subsequently demolished.
The city approved the first house in 2022; more are to follow. For the initial structure, the News reports that Olson Kundig is collaborating with local architect of record Smith and Moore Architects.
