Gas Works tower proposal tabled

SEATTLE — The newest iteration of a Seattle Parks and Recreation effort to remove some exterior portions of Gas Works Park's signature gasification towers stalled on Wednesday.

The Seattle Landmarks Preservation Board tabled an updated SPR request for a certificate of approval to remove the “appurtenances,” such as ladders, piping and valving, from the towers at 2101 N. Northlake Way in Wallingford in the name of public safety.
