Trammell Crow Residential's (TCR) 388-unit Alexan Eastgate has broken ground in Bellevue. The mid-rise, eight-story apartment building is being built on a formerly vacant 7-acre site at 14200 S.E. 32nd St.

That parcel is within the Sunset North office park, which is just north of Interstate 90, near Bellevue College, and a few steps from the Eastgate Park and Ride.

As the DJC then reported, TCR paid $24 million for the land in September, and construction looks to have swiftly followed.

Civil contractor Northwest Construction Inc. is currently preparing the site for the new building, which Maple Multifamily PNW will construct. Maple Multifamily PNW is an arm of TCR.

The multifamily property will be a hybrid wood structure with five levels of wood framing on top of three levels of reinforced concrete. Retail is planned along the southern portion of the building.

The total project size is 363,151 square feet.

Tenant amenities will include a fitness center, a rooftop deck with views across the water to the Seattle skyline, and pet care facilities.

TCR is partnered with three Japanese companies on Alexan Eastgate — Sumitomo Forestry Co., Ltd.; Kumagai Gumi Co., Ltd.; and Fuyo General Lease Co., Ltd. All three are headquartered inTokyo.

The project team also includes Solid Ground Engineering, which provided stormwater and utility design, permit management, civil engineering design, planning services and project feasibility services.

Alexan Eastgate is expected to be completed and start leasing in December 2028. When it opens, it will be TCR's fifth Alexan community in Washington. TCR says each Alexan building “has a distinct personality, designed to be a haven for its residents and a welcome addition to its neighborhood.”
