The bar at Suncadia’s central lodge has been reoriented to maximize mountain views.

The central lodge at Suncadia resort has a more natural and earthy look following a $4 million refresh.

The lodge is a focal point of the 6,400-acre resort on the shoulder of the Cascade Mountain Range in Cle Elum. It has guest rooms, dining options, a bar, a spa, and a host of public areas.

The refresh covered over 10,000 square feet of the lodge's ground-level public spaces including the bar and lobby. Seattle's Heliotrope Architects designed the upgrades.

The redesign centered on creating a strong and authentic sense of place by ensuring that the public spaces were reflective of the natural environment and cultural history of the greater Roslyn-Cle Elum region, particularly its mining past.

Windows have been enlarged to make the most of the site's expansive views and better connect the lodge with the landscape. The bar has been reoriented to use the Cascade Mountains as a backdrop, and many interior partitions were removed.

Upgraded spaces feature natural, locally sourced materials.

The lodge is a focal point of the resort.

The bar and lobby are now one space, energizing both while increasing capacity as well as comfort.

New seating has been added throughout the lobby, bar and dining room, selected and arranged to emphasize comfort and orientation relative to views and architectural features.

The refreshed spaces feature natural, locally sourced materials, drawing on the colors found in nature surrounding the lodge and using details evocative of the region's mining history.

New fine art and decor include custom commissions by local artists. In addition, many custom furniture and casework elements are sourced from local artisans and fabricators.

BNBuilders was the general contractor for the refresh, which was completed in late 2024.

The lodge's guest rooms have also been updated. That work began last fall and was recently completed. The refreshed rooms feature natural textures and materials inspired by the surrounding landscape and locally crafted furnishings and art.

The lodge renovations are part of a broader $40 million investment at Suncadia that includes upgrades and new elements. The centerpiece of that effort is a new $18 million retail village and community hub, set to open this summer.

Called Suncadia Social, the 16,500-square-foot retail village will offer a mix of local shops and restaurants. Heliotrope is also the architect for Suncadia Social. Steps from the retail village, construction is underway on a new residential neighborhood for the resort comprising 42 mountain bungalows and rowhouses.
