Pitch for congregate housing on the Ave

SEATTLE — A small pair of old commercial buildings at 4224-4234 University Way N.E. sold in late 2023 for a little under $4.8 million. The buyer then seemed to be an Oregon investor. The duo, south of the post office, has 20 units over restaurants, some shuttered, and a deli.

This week came a new plan to redevelop with a six-story congregate housing project, dubbed Eastern Sunrise Student Housing. The old buildings would be razed.
