SEATTLE — Sound Transit is seeking a designer to provide engineering and inspection consultant services ahead of a planned overhaul of coaches serving the Sounder rail line.
The cars are up to 25 years old and in need of a mid-life overhaul, according to Sound Transit. The agency is rebuilding 58 bi-level passenger rail cars, including 40 coach cars and 18 cab cars that were built by Bombardier Transportation and delivered starting in 1994. A Systra-Brookville joint venture is the project's contractor.
