Pioneer Square goes pedestrian

Soccer fans gather in Occidental Park. SDOT will turn much of the rest of Pioneer Square into a pedestrian zone on match days, creating car-free spaces for an estimated 100,000 visitors.

SEATTLE — The city will turn parts of Pioneer Square into a walkable pedestrian zone during the six FIFA Men's World Cup matches set to be played at Lumen Field this summer.
