Committee studies housing funding

KING COUNTY — King County Executive Girmay Zahilay has convened a new steering committee for the housing revenue workgroup. The workgroup was established via an executive order in March and is charged with exploring dedicated funding to address housing shortages and homelessness across the county.

The committee consists of representatives from local and state government, affordable housing, non-profit organizations, labor, and business sectors. It will evaluate the feasibility of a new revenue source to support the building, siting, preservation, maintenance, and operations of emergency shelter and affordable housing in King County, including the potential for the first-ever countywide housing levy.
