Design Perspectives: Time to turn South Downtown into an ecotopia

    Depending on which side of what street you stand — or the meeting you last attended — South Downtown is a diverse and dynamic sector of the city — or a very divided one. Now, once again, the city is working on a plan that connects an odd amalgamation of land, arterials, stadiums and public transportation nodes.

    King County is making a short list of potential developers for the north lot near Qwest Field. The 7-acre site has the potential to tip the balance of South Downtown toward residential development.
