Design Perspectives: Post-viaduct challenge: reclaim the city’s edge

  • Will it be inviting or will we just see new banks of windows, with sanitized sidewalks below?

    As the year draws to a close, knocking down the south section of the Alaskan Way Viaduct has opened up views of Elliott Bay, and given us a taste of what is to come.

    The new pedestrian environment planned for the path of the viaduct should make walking to the waterfront part of everyday life for many more Seattleites.
