Project of the Month: A light sandwich along North 36th Street

The light, highly articulated front of Building 115 is flanked by concrete block walls that anticipate future commercial and light-industrial development along North 36th Street, between Fremont and Ballard.

The urban core has always been a mix of uses, competing for economic advantage, and also for legal status in the zoning code. But it's the mix of uses — including industrial — that gives dense, walkable urban neighborhoods their distinctive texture.
