Dr. George A. Gates has been appointed scientific director of the Deafness Research Foundation. Gates is professor of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery of the Virginia Merrill Bloedell Hearing Research Center at the University of Washington. As DRF scientific director, Gates will oversee research grants and chair the board of scientific trustees in setting research policies and foundations.
