Safeco announced promotions of several employees. Safeco Corp.: Christopher Nelson is named assistant vice president. He is director of corporate security for the Safeco

companies, based in Seattle. Safeco Property & Casualty: Kim Garland is assistant vice president, director of auto products for the eastern half of the country; Greg Tacchetti is assistant vice president, director of field underwriting for personal lines products; Jim Arciere is assistant vice president, director of personal lines claims. Safeco Life & Investments:

Lynette Sagvold is named vice president for Safeco Asset Management, co-manager of the Safeco Balanced Fund and the U.S. Value Fund
