Tacoma Police Department

David Brame, a 20-year veteran of the Tacoma Police Department, is the department's new police chief. Brame began his police career as a patrol officer and was named assistant chief in 1999 after serving as head of the department's criminal investigations division. He also served six years as chief contract negotiator for the union representing city patrol officers. Brame replaces James Hairston, who retired after a 33-year police career, the last three as Tacoma's chief.
