Columbia Banking System

Columbia Bank has accepted the resignation of J. James Gallagher. Gallagher is vice chairman and chief executive officer of its holding company and vice chairman of Columbia Bank. He will continue to serve the company as a consultant. William T. Weyerhaeuser, a director of the company since 1998 and chairman of the board will assume the position of interim chief executive officer. Columbia Banking System is a Tacoma-based bank holding company whose wholly owned subsidiary is Columbia Bank, with 35 banking offices in Pierce, King, Cowlitz, Kitsap and Thurston counties.
