The Association of Washington Business named 15 companies as recipients of its 2002 Better Workplace Awards. The awards honor companies for innovations in workplace safety, job training and advancement programs, and benefit and compensation programs. Top honors went to Milgard Windows of Tacoma, Schweitzer Engineering Labs of Pullman and Pacific Seafood of Mukilteo. Other winners include: Echo Bay Minerals Co., Kettle River/Republic; Canyon Creek Cabinet Co., Monroe; Waste Management, Kirkland; Fluor Hanford., Richland; The Everett Clinic, Everett; Stevens Pass Ski Area, Skykomish; Ppi-WA., Union Gap; Shields Bag and Printing, Yakima; TransAlta Centralia Generation, Centralia; Underwriters Laboratories, Camas; Metropolitan Mortgage and Securities, Spokane; and WRQ, Seattle.
