The Northwest Maritime Center has received four leadership gifts totaling more than $800,000 towards its $10 million capital campaign to build a regional maritime educational and cultural facility in Port Townsend. The new gifts include $500,000 towards a $1 million pledge from the Camilla Chandler Family Foundation of Los Angeles and the Hugh and Jane Ferguson Foundation, the D.V. and Ida J. McEachern Charitable Trust, and the Juniper Foundation have pledged gifts totaling more than $300,000. Designed by the Miller/Hull Partnership, the facility will consist of the Chandler Education Building, the Maritime Heritage and Resource Building, a high-trestle pier with floating docks, and a 20,000-square-foot outdoor commons area. It is scheduled to open in the summer of 2005.
