The Northwest Maritime Center has received four leadership gifts totaling more than $800,000 towards its $10 million capital campaign to build a regional maritime educational and cultural facility in Port Townsend. The new gifts include $500,000 towards a $1 million pledge from the Camilla Chandler Family Foundation of Los Angeles and the Hugh and Jane Ferguson Foundation, the D.V. and Ida J. Designed by the Miller/Hull Partnership, the facility will consist of the Chandler Education Building, the Maritime Heritage and Resource Building, a high-trestle pier with floating docks, and a 20,000-square-foot outdoor commons area. It is scheduled to open in the summer of 2005.
