Columbia Banking System

The board of directors of Columbia Banking System named Melanie J. Dressel as president and chief executive officer. Dressel will continue to serve as president and chief executive officer of Columbia Bank, its commercial bank subsidiary. William T. Weyerhaeuser will continue to serve as chairman. Weyerhauser had been serving as interim chief executive officer for Columbia Banking System since July 2002.
