The Washington Health Foundation named its 4th Annual Heroes of Health Care Award recipients at its annual banquet that raised more than $42,000 from sponsors and individuals. The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Maxine Hayes, state health officer with the Washington State Department of Health and clinical professor of pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine. The Leadership Award went to Carlos Olivares of the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic. The Program for Appropriate Health was named for the Innovation Award, and Access to Baby and Child Dentistry was named as the Collaboration Award winner. The Washington Health Foundation connects health care providers, policy leaders and the public through programs, grants and policy leadership.
