State of Washington

Philip Mote has been named the Washington state climatologist. The position has been vacant since 1998 when Mark Albright, a research meteorologist with the UW atmospheric sciences department resigned the position. Albright will join Mote as associate climatologist. The state climatologist collects and interprets climate data and provides information to the public and private users.
