Washington State University

Brian Pitcher will be chancellor for Washington State University Spokane starting in January 2005. Pitcher was provost at the University of Idaho for seven years, where he was also a professor of sociology. Pitcher replaces Nicholas Lovrich, director of the division of governmental studies and services at WSU, who was interim chancellor. Lovrich had succeeded Rom Markin. Construction of the 106,000-square-foot Spokane Academic Center building is underway, with completion scheduled for fall 2006. WSU says it also plans to build a new nursing education building at WSU Spokane.
