Crowley Maritime

Joe Rella joined Oakland, Calif.-based Crowley Maritime Corp. as director of business development. Rella will work out of Houston and focus on the liquefied natural gas industry, a new area for Crowley. Rella was a port engineer contracted to the U.S. Navy and a director of sales and marketing for Atlantic Marine. Crowley officials say LNG accounts for only about 1 percent of natural gas used in the United States, but they expect it to grow. Crowley owns and operates ship assist and escort tug boats, and offers other maritime services in Seattle and Tacoma.
