U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

Thomas E. O'Donovan will take command of the Portland District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. A change of command ceremony will be held today at 3 p.m. at Bonneville Lock and Dam. O'Donovan succeeds Richard Hobernicht, who is retiring after 26 years with the Army. The Portland District is responsible for the Corps' water resource activities in western Oregon and southwestern Washington, including fish and wildlife protection, hydropower production, navigation, flood damage reduction and recreation.
