American Planning Association

The national office of the American Planning Association gave the Washington chapter its Karen B. Smith Outstanding Outreach to the Community Award. The chapter was recognized for its efforts to improve the Growth Management Act. Karen B. Smith, a chair of the APA Chapter Presidents Council, died in a car accident in 1984 at the age of 36.
