Schnitzer Steel Industries

RRC Acquisition, a subsidiary of Portland company Schnitzer Steel Industries, has agreed to buy all assets of Regional Recycling. RRC will pay $65 million in cash and assume certain liabilities. Regional Recycling runs 10 metals recycling facilities in Alabama and Georgia. Last year Regional Recycling sold more than 500,000 tons of ferrous metal and nearly 100 million pounds of non-ferrous metal, and earned $190 million. Schnitzer Steel Industries recycles ferrous metals and retails auto parts.
