News Web site Crosscut.com has launched a charter membership fundraising campaign and has received gifts from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. It also made three new hires. They are Mark Matassa as deputy editor, Jill Mogen as executive director and Marilyn Hoe as operations director. Matassa is a political writer and editor who has worked at The Seattle Times, The Seattle Post-Intelligencer and the Los Angeles Times. Mogen was publisher of Seattle Homes & Lifestyles magazine. Hoe was recently at Town Hall.
