Leadership Eastside

Leadership Eastside, a three-year program that helps participants develop skills through leadership roles in business, volunteerism and public service, hired James Whitfield as chief executive. Whitfield has served on a number of nonprofit boards. He was appointed by the White House in 2005 to be regional director of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and later was deputy directory for the agency's Office of Intergovernmental Affairs. He succeeds Stephanie Mapelli, who served as LE's president for four years.
